EnglishCouleeWatershed

The English Coulee Watershed covers over 130 square miles or 84,000 acres of the eastern Grand Forks County, North Dakota.  The communities of Merrifield, Powell, Calspur and Grand Forks are part of this watershed.  Land use in the western portion of the watershed is dominated by livestock grazing.  Crop cultivation becomes more prevalent progressing eastward through the watershed until rural interfaces with urban south of the Grand Forks Mark Andrews International Airport.  The English Coulee is used for recreation with bike paths and greenways, to water livestock, provide wildlife habitat and flood mitigation.
